Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1 in the Premier League last Sunday and next up they travel to St Mary’s in order to take on Southampton.

But before this game, the Liverpool fans are surely a worried bunch given Virgil Van Dijk picked up an injury against the Lilywhites.

Virgil Van Dijk collided with Moussa Sissoko while defending a counter-attack from Spurs and after the match, Jurgen Klopp made the matter more intense.

When asked about the injury sustained by Virgil Van Dijk, Klopp replied: “We have to see

“I asked him and I think it was in the counter-attack situation when Sissoko hit him… I don’t know if he twisted it or it is a knock

“He was walking to the interviews with a big ice pack. I hope it’s nothing serious but I don’t know yet.”

Immediately after this, multiple rumours started claiming that Virgil Van Dijk has indeed sustained a big injury and there is a possibility that the player could even miss the remainder of the season.

Thankfully though that will not be the case.

Recent reports have claimed that the ice pack was just a precaution and the player should be fine.

A couple of tests were carried out on Monday and Virgil Van Dijk has been cleared off any serious injury scares which means the defender should play in central defence on Friday when Liverpool travel to St Mary’s.

The return of Vigil Van Dijk is undoubtedly a major boost for Jurgen Klopp since the Dutchman has been the best player for the Reds this season and with a number of crucial games coming up, the last thing the manager would have wanted is to name a team without Van Dijk.
