Manchester United take on Derby County in the 5th Round of the FA Cup meaning Wayne Rooney will be slated to take on his former side.

And speaking before the game, the Man United legend has explained what he wants from the 90 minutes at the iPro Stadium.

“I love the club,” said Wayne Rooney, as reported.

“It’s a team I want to do well, I want to win but for this 90 minutes, 120 minutes I want them to lose to try and go through.

“I’ve come here as a Manchester United player in the FA Cup and I know what it means to the fans, the players, the staff to have Manchester United come in.

“It’s a big day for a football club and a big challenge.

“We have a chance. At the time[of the draw] Manchester United weren’t in the greatest of form but they’ve picked up over the last few weeks.”

Wayne Rooney had been playing in the MLS earlier this season but the player returned back to England and joined Derby County in January and so far the 34-year-old has played in 11 Championship games for the Rams.

Rooney has so far netted four goals and made two assists for Derby and he will be hoping to knock out his former side from the FA Cup on Thursday.
