Tottenham Hotspur picked a 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 while their North London rivals Arsenal slumped to a 1-0 loss to BATE in the Europa League.

The Lilywhites have not signed a single player during the past two transfer windows but their performances do not reflect this.

On the other hand, Arsenal brought in a string of players during the summer but Unai Emery has failed to weave his magic at the Emirates.

The Gunners fans are obviously fuming over the fact that their arch-rivals have been performing so well and now even Arsene Wenger has come out to praise Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Wenger who is currently working as a pundit has compared the likes of Son and Dele Alli to that famed Class of 92 from Manchester United.

And this is perhaps one of the biggest compliments that Spurs have received till date but the Arsenal fans will most certainly not be happy with Wenger’s praise.

“It’s very difficult to win trophies in England,” Wenger said.

“The last cup we won we had to play against [Manchester] City in the semi-final and Chelsea in the final – who were the champions.

“What I want to say about Tottenham – I’m an Arsenal fan so it’s a bit of a sensitive subject for me – they have a generation of young players, who for me look like a little bit like the Man United generation, with Giggs, Scholes, Butt, the Nevilles, Beckham.

“They (the Class of 92) made it to the complete top.”

“You feel there is something there at Tottenham, but they have not shown the maturity in the decisive moments to get to what we speak about (winning trophies).

“That’s the target now, they come to maturity in the next two, three years, and they have to show that.”
