Croatia reached the World Cup final this year in Russia and almost everyone praised the heroics of midfielder Luka Modric for inspiring his team to their first ever World Cup final.

While Luka Modric was picking up all the plaudits a number of other players were doing their job silently in the background and one such player was Domagoj Vida.

Vida had an exceptional World Cup campaign and ever since the tournament came to an end last week, a number of clubs have shown interest in signing the defender.

Domagoj Vida currently plays Turkish club Beskitas having joined then at the start of the new year from Dynamo Kyiv. The 29-year-old played just 18 games for Besiktas last season but this month-long tournament in Russia seems to have done wonders for the defender.

According to Turkish broadcaster beIN, Premier League club, West Ham United have shown an interest in signing Domagoj Vida and have also placed an official bid which is being estimated in the region of 20 million pounds.

The report also suggests that both the concerned clubs have come to an agreement with Besiktas President Fikret Orman expected to fly down to England in the coming few days in order to wrap up the transfer.

While this news will certainly be a breath of fresh air for the Hammers fan but in all honesty, this story seems a bit diabolical simply because a couple of days back there was news coming out of Turkey that Liverpool had placed a similar bid of 20 million pounds which had been accepted by Besiktas.

Now we cannot know for certain which bit of news is true but what we can say for sure is that if Liverpool are truly in the hunt then they will be a step ahead of West Ham United.

Not only because Domagoj Vida will get the chance to play in the Champions League but the Reds also have Dejan Lovren in their team who was also in the Croatian defence during the World Cup.
