Manchester City take on West Ham United in the Carabao Cup in midweek and manager Pep Guardiola has dropped a key selection hint for this game.

City beat Brighton 4-1 in the Premier League during the weekend and as is with all the league cup games, everyone was expecting Guardiola to name several youngsters on Wednesday.

But the City boss has hinted that while he is going to rotate his team but he’s likely to name a much stronger side on Wednesday at the London Stadium.

“Some of them, but less than against Wycombe because in that moment we had injured players, different circumstances,” he said, per the Manchester Evening News.

“We will take a look in the next days. We play Wednesday, so we’ll see training tomorrow and Tuesday and after we’ll see what is the best decision.”

“It’s a tournament in this country that we have done quite well in. We know which team we’re going to face, West Ham away is not an easy one but at the same time we are going to prepare, to win the game as any competition.”

Against Brighton, Man City named a pretty strong side and some of them who played during the weekend are surely going to be rested against West Ham United.

But the big headache for David Moyes is that even the subs from Saturday’s game are word class.

Players like Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and John Stones started on the bench during the weekend and are likely to start on Wednesday.

The Hammers go into this encounter at the back of a 1-0 win against Spurs so they will have a lot of confidence under their belt. But Manchester City are a totally different beast.

Raheem Sterling also missed out against the Seagulls and he too could come back into the starting line up for this Carabao Cup clash.

West Ham United might be going into this game as the second favourites but they are in no way a massive underdog. Yes, it will not be a walk in the park but under David Moyes, the Hammers have been really cohesive so a smash and grab is very much possible.
