West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini spent some serious amount of cash during the previous summer window with the hopes that they can get back into Europe next season.

But the Hammers suffered some embarrassing defeats during the first few games of the season and fans were in fear of witnessing yet another relegation battle.

That though was thankfully not the case as West Ham picked up the pace and they ended up playing some fine football towards the end of the season.

The London outfit ended the 2018-19 season on the 10th spot only a few points shy of the Europa League position but next season they wish to achieve that target.

And speaking to the club’s official stadium, West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta has claimed that the Hammers fans looked happier this season due the performances the players had been putting out on the pitch.

“I think we had a great season with a new manager in Manuel,” he said.

“We didn’t start quite well, as we lost the first four games of the season, [but we finished strongly with three wins and in tenth position].

“The Club really backed him with £80 million last summer and we need to give credit to the owners that they really gave him a chance to bring quality players into the team with the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson and Issa Diop, so they made some great signings.

“With his experience, always working at top clubs, he is trying to take West Ham to another level,”

“Every season is better. The last two seasons at London Stadium we’ve been in a relegation battle until the end of the season, so the atmosphere wasn’t as good, but this season I think we played some of the best football at home, especially when we beat Manchester United, Arsenal and some other big teams.

“It seems like the fans are so much happier now.”

It is no secret that West Ham will be spending a large sum of money this summer too as the owners seem to be backing Manuel Pellegrini to get the team back in Europe next year.
