Rangers FC have signed Steven Davis from Southampton on a loan deal which expires at the end of the season.
Initially, it was thought that Davis was returning back to Ibrox permanently but it seems like the dynamic midfielder is not ready to commit his future to Rangers.
While most of the fans and pundits are happy that Steven Gerrard has managed to acquire the services of Steven Davis but according to Gers legend Lee McCulloch, the midfielder will cause some selection headaches for the manager.
McCulloch is primarily worried about the versatility of Steven Davis which in turn makes it hard to predict as to where the former Saints man will start.
While talking to the Glasgow Evening Times, Lee McCulloch said:
“Steven is so versatile that I don’t know exactly where he will fit into Gerrard’s team when the Scottish football season resumes after the winter break.
“Will he be the one who sits in? Or will he be the guy who goes forward? He is an all-around midfield player.
“I partnered him a couple of times in the middle of the pitch. But he can play on the left and he can play on the right. He can play as an attacking midfielder and as a defensive midfielder.
“I can see him, even though he is 34 now, being the one who plays a little bit further forward.”
Steven Davis had spent four years with the Gers before moving to England and the midfielder should take no time in settling down at Ibrox.
While Steven Gerrard will surely be looking to utilize the full potential of the 34-year-old until the end of the season but if he does become a hit at the club then the manager will have to work really hard in order to keep him at the club.
Since a lot of Premier League clubs will be more than happy to have him on board.
