Rangers FC have failed in their quest to open an independent investigation over the recent resolution voting to end the Scottish Premiership and as per BBC journalist Chris McLaughlin, Glasgow rivals Celtic FC are about to be named the champions for the 2019-20 season.

Right now the Bhoys are sitting at the top of the Premiership table with a 13 point lead over Rangers and as per McLaughlin, Neil Lennon’s men could be named the champions by the end of next week.

The BBC man said in BBC’s Football Podcast: “I was told before the meeting there was a very good chance that if it went in the SPFL’s favour it would be called by the end of the week.

“I spoke to a few others yesterday who suggested that in the wake of the vote they may well draw breath.

“What has to happen is that the SPFL board have to convene and agree officially that the 2019/20 season is over. There doesn’t now have to be a vote between all 12 clubs.

“At the last all 12 club meeting, there was I am told a unanimous decision, or certainly a unanimous feeling, that the season could definitely not be played out.

“I would imagine that by this time next week Celtic will be champions.”

This is surely a massive setback for Rangers who have tried almost all the remedies to stop the season from being abruptly ended and the have even gone to a point where they have demanded the suspensions of Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie.

But finally, it looks like Celtic FC are about to win this battle and be crowned the domestic champions for the ninth successive season.
