In a recent interview, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted that their transfer activity for the summer is not over and now Fabrizio Romano has provided a bit more information.

The transfer expert has named five players who have been put up for sale by the Gunners and almost all of them have been linked with one team or another.

Romano has told CaughtOffside.“The negotiation for Bernd Leno with Fulham has been dragging on for some time. For the moment, talks continue but so far there is still no agreement on the price,

“For Nuno Tavares, in the next week, the negotiations with Atalanta for a loan deal will continue (Atalanta want a buy option clause, Arsenal not).

“Arsenal are open to letting Nicolas Pepe leave but at the moment there is no official offer yet. The player himself also changed agents this summer in an attempt to get a move, but it’s proving a tricky sale.

“Pablo Mari is on the list of Fenerbahce and Verona in Italy, while for Lucas Torreira there are many interested clubs including Valencia, but Arsenal want to sell only on their own terms.”

Are Arsenal doing the right thing by selling all these players?

All the players named by Romano have been completely useless for Arsenal so it makes sense that Mikel Arteta wants to get rid of them asap. The club have spent more than £100 million so far so they have to sell all the deadwood to balance their books.

The likes of Pepe and Bernd Leno are amongst the highest earners in the Arsenal squad so by getting rid of them, the club will also free up their wage bill.

Ramsdale has become the undisputed No 1 at the club and Arsenal have also signed Matt Turner so there’s no need to hold onto Leno anymore.

All the abovementioned players are completely dispensible apart from Nicolas Pepe. While the winger has been a major flop for Arsenal but the team does not have too much depth in their attacking department right now so the manager will ideally want to bring in a new forward before he cashes in on Pepe.

Apart from these five players, the name of Hector Bellerin will also be added to the list because the right-back has completely fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta. He spent the previous season out on loan and he is more than willing to secure an exit this time around.
