After warming the benches for Manchester United during the first half of the season, Amad Diallo has finally managed to secure a loan move to Rangers FC.

Since the start of the transfer window, there were rumours that Rangnick was keen to send Amad out on loan and on Thursday, Fabrizio Romano was the first to break the news that the Gers have managed to secure a short-term loan deal.

Talking about the new arrival, manager, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, said, as per the official statement: “I am really pleased to add Amad to our squad for the rest of the season.

“He is a player who I have been aware of for some time, and when the opportunity to sign him came up, we were very keen to make it happen.

“He will add a lot to our squad and provide even more competition for the players in the forward areas.”

Who is Amad Diallo?

Amad Diallo has come up through the ranks at Atalanta and just when he was breaking into their senior side, Manchester United decided to pay close to 20 million pounds to secure the services of the 19-year-old.

The amount of money paid by United had raised a lot of eyebrows but if a club of their reputation is spending so much on a youngster then there’s bound to be some significant talent in him.

He moved to United during the January transfer window last year and to date, he has played in nine games for Manchester United, scoring one goal.

What type of a player is he?

Amad Diallo is an out-and-out right winger by trade and he’s impressed a lot of people in Europe when he was coming up through the Atalanta ranks.

The Ivorian though is an unpolished gem who was not ready to ply his trade at the Premier League level. He’s someone who is known to take defenders on with his trickery and his pace.

A lot of people thought he will be able to break into the first team straight away but he’s found it tough so far. Also, he is not very versatile in terms of playing in various roles so if his favoured right flank is not free then it’s very hard to use him as an experiment in other departments.

Can Amad Diallo make an impact at Rangers FC?

Thankfully, the level of competition in Scotland is not as high as the Premier League so both Amad Diallo and his new boss will get the luxury of trial and error.

Since he’s arrived only on a short-term loan deal, we expect him to be thrown straight into the action and if he can impress with his guile and trickery then it will be very easy for him to become a regular feature.

He still needs a few more years to develop meaning if he can impress this season then Manchester United will not shy away from letting him stay with Rangers FC for one more season but right now, Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to go ahead one gameweek at a time.
