West Ham United signed a number of players during the summer transfer window but many people believed that the arrival of Jack Wilshere could be a game changer.

The Hammers got him for free after he chose not to renew his contract with Arsenal and to get such a talented man without paying a penny was considered to be a great business.

And everyone knew that Wilshere will become the fulcrum in midfielder around which the likes of Hernandez and Arnautovic will function.

But four games later nothing of that sort has happened.

The English International has played each and every game during the new season but has not scored a single goal nor has he provided an assist.

If you dig a bit deeper then you will notice that Jack Wilshere’s stats are even worse given that the midfielder has made 0.5 key passes every game and has been dispossessed close to two times every match.

And amongst all this, the Daily Mail has come out to claim that Hammers chairman David Sullivan wanted to sign Jack Wilshere on a one year contract but it was Manuel Pellegrini who forced the club to give the midfielder a three-year deal.

The newspaper says: “He insisted on a three-year deal for Jack Wilshere, while Sullivan was inclined to offer the midfielder one year.”

The report suggests that Manuel Pellegrini remembered how good Jack Wilshere was for Arsenal when he himself was managing Manchester City and the boss felt that the midfielder could replicate that same form at West Ham.

Four games down and Jack Wilshere looks a shadow of his past self at the London Stadium and if he cannot improve his standards then Pellegrini might have no chance but to drop him to the bench.
