Chelsea lost their Carabao Cup final to Manchester City on Sunday as the Citizens picked up their first silverware of the season.
The match went all the way to penalties where Man City held their nerves to come out on top. Kepa did manage to save one penalty but misses from Jorginho and David Luiz meant that the Blues fell short by a small margin.
But it was the incident which unfolded just before the shootout which has caught everyone’s attention.
Sarri wanted to bring in Caballero for the spot kicks but Kepa just refused to give up his position.
This bizarre incident of mutiny from the keeper has left many people confused and fingers are being pointed to a number of people.
But the player who has received the biggest backlash is Chelsea keeper Cesar Azpilicueta.
The right-back was expected to sort things out when Kepa refused to come off but the captain did not seem to intervene.
And after the match, he even went one step further to claim that he could not comment on the incident since he was not part of the fiasco.
“Honestly, I don’t know because I was on the other side of the pitch,” he said.
“So I can’t comment.”
This has really not gone down too well with the Blues fans who are now urging the club to strip Cesar Azpilicueta from the captain’s armband.
Also why didnt azpilicueta have kepa straight off, shows a complete lack of leadership at the club #ChelseaFC

Azpilicueta, the Captain avoiding the question and citing that he was on “the other side of the pitch”
He should seriously grow a spine or give up the armband. Extra time or not, he should have ran over and been the intermediary between both parties.

Azpilicueta isn’t my captain after today and based on this season isn’t the right back going forward. That position should be @reecejames69

Even John Terry claimed after the match that it was the captain’s duty to sort things out on the pitch and Cesar Azpilicueta should have gone up to Kepa and forced to go off the pitch.
But then, not everyone is John Terry.
