Rangers FC have signed Jermain Defoe from AFC Bournemouth and the Englishman will be joining his new teammates in their winter training camp at Tenerife.

According to reports, the player has completed a medical and will be joining the training camp by Monday.

And many are looking at this signing as the best bit of business from Steven Gerrard ever since he took charge of the club.

Jermain Defoe comes to Rangers with an impressive CV and the 36-year-old can promise goals thus reducing the burden on Alfredo Morelos.

Writing for the Sunday Post, Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has revealed the reason why Jermain Defoe has said yes to sign for Rangers FC.

“To have captured Jermain Defoe on loan from Bournemouth is brilliant business,” Sir Kenny Dalglish wrote.

“He may well want one or two more. But Steven isn’t under pressure to sell and that has to be a positive for him.

“Jermain may well be 36 and have had a number of clubs during his career, but I’m certain there will still be a hunger and burning desire within him to bring silverware to Ibrox.

“He will score plenty of goals.

“Make no mistake, Rangers being able to attract the former England striker will have had plenty to do with Steven.

“He has a great relationship with players from his club and international career.

“He had an excellent career as a footballer and his CV isn’t too bad, is it?

“That’s because Steven was good and knew his stuff, not because he was lucky.

“More importantly, he is now a football manager and he is performing very well.”

Jermain Defoe is not the only player who has joined the Teddy Bears due to Steven Gerrard since during the summer Jurgen Klopp sent out a number of his young players on loan to Rangers just because Steven Gerrard had taken charge of the Gers.
