Arsenal beat Man United 2-0 in the Premier League in midweek and the duo of Xhaka and Lucas Torreira were key figures during the match.

One of the main reasons why the Gunners have failed to dominate matches this season is due to the fact that their midfield has not clicked.

But that wasn’t the case against Manchester United where both Xhaka and Lucas Torreira covered every blade of grass on the pitch and especially the South American looked a player reborn.

While Xhaka has seen a lot of game time this season but the Uruguayan has been on and off the first Xi and there have also been rumours about him trying to move out of the club during the January transfer window.

But speaking after the win against Man United, Mikel Arteta revealed why the player was so influential during the match.

Arteta told BT Sport via The Mirror: “He’s starting to understand the whole picture much better, that’s what I’m trying to do [with him].”

“He was really good again. He wants to fight for every ball. In training, he fights for every inch.

“He’s been superb. In the three games he’s played under me, he’s been top.”

Lucas Torreira had been linked with a move to AC Milan this month but after his performances against Man United, it is safe to say that the midfielder is not heading out of the Emirates – not atleast before the end of the season.
