Ousmane Dembele to the Premier League

Premier League side Arsenal have reportedly given up the chance to sign Barcelona misfit Ousmane Dembele for just £52 million

Barcelona paid almost £140 million to secure the services of Dembele from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017 but since then, the player has done nothing but occupy the medical room at the club.

A number of big injuries have seriously hindered the player’s growth and it seems Barcelona have already given up on him, thereby opting to put him up for sale in the summer.

As per reports in Spain, the Catalans are willing to accept just £52 million in return for the 22-year-old but seems like one of his suitors, Arsenal have already rejected the chance to sign him.

Marca are reporting: “It looks like Ousmane Dembele will remain a Barcelona player for at least another season.

“Due to the current uncertainties over finances and the Frenchman’s recent injury problems, no one is ready to match Barcelona ‘s asking price of 60 million euros.

“Just before his latest injury, Dembele ‘s agent met with the Catalan club to discuss a possible departure this summer.”

Should Arsenal sign Ousmane Dembele?

Obviously Arsenal feel the price tag of £52 million is way too much for someone who has played only five league matches this season for Barcelona but we think Arteta should reconsider his stance.

Ousmane Dembele operates on the right-wing and Arsenal this season have their own problems in that area.

The Gunners spent a huge about of money to bring in Nicolas Pepe last summer but the former Ligue 1 star is yet to hit the ground running in the English Premier League.

And while we feel, Pepe should be given one more season to prove his worth but it might be more sensible if the manager could offload him for a hefty fee and use that money to bring in Ousmane Dembele for £52 million and maybe one more player.

We know this is a far-fetched idea but Nicolas Pepe has already disappointed a lot this season and if he cannot pull up his performances next campaign then Mikel Arteta and his side could be in a lot of trouble.
