Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Arsenal could lose Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer but according to Bacary Sagna, his former side should do all they can in order to hold onto him.

The Gabon international been a goal-scoring machine for the Gunners this season and according to the former Arsenal defender, Arsenal could end up wasting an extra £100 million if Aubameyang was to join a new club.

“He can’t go now because Arsenal are on the way to building something strong,” Sagna told Goal.

“They can’t afford to lose him. If they have to pay him, then just pay him because if they want someone else of his quality they cost £150m.

“So don’t spend this £150m, just spend £50m and give it to him. It’s the same as van Persie and I think you have to learn from that situation.

“Auba deserves it. I’m not saying that because of his name or because he has scored a few goals. He’s the best striker in the league.

“Auba is a machine, he has scored many goals for the team. If you want to build something, it has to be around him.

“Giving him the armband gave him some confidence. He is the captain, which means they want him to lead.

“Today, the stadium is the club’s stadium. It’s always full, they are making money. Of course, there are other ways of spending money, but I would rather pay him than trying to find a solution with him than losing him and then wasting time trying with someone else, and finding someone else now is very, very difficult.

“It’s like playing chess. You have to be smart. He deserves it, just give it to him.”

Should Arsenal hold onto Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is out of contract at Arsenal in 2021 but the Gunners are reluctant to offer him a new deal due to his massive wage demands.

Many pundits too feel the Gunners are doing the right thing since the last time they paid such huge wages to was Mesut Ozil and the German’s form has dipped ever since.

And since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is about to be 31 years old the club do not want to take a risk and then get stuck with a senior pro who eats up a large chunk of the club’s wages.

So despite Sagna urging Arsenal to hold onto the forward at all cost, we feel Mikel Arteta sell him off in the summer and then will use that money to bring in some fresh faces for the upcoming season.
