Ibrox Rangers

After a rough first season in Scotland, everyone was hoping Steven Gerrard would be able to sort things out at Rangers this year. But sadly that has not been the case.

Last season, the Gers dropped a series of points which forced them to fall out of the title race and nothing much has changed this season.

Right now, Rangers are 13 points behind league leaders Celtic FC and there’s a very good chance the Bhoys will be declared the champions in the coming few weeks.

And now talking about his team’s performances this season, Rangers defender Filip Helander has revealed why the Ibrox outfit fell behind their Old Firm rivals this season as well.

Talking about his personal injury woes as well as his the team’s fate, he said: “It’s very unusual that you actually break a bone in your foot. It’s not something that happens very often apparently.

“I don’t know what happened to us as a team. We lost our shape, got a few injuries and dropped lots of unnecessary points.

“Confidence dropped in the team and you start overthinking things in adversity.

“Of course you notice the criticism because the expectations here at Rangers is that you will always win. That’s what we play for here and I love it. When things are not going well, you have to not let it get to you.

“But we have not been good enough to handle the pressure this season. We hope to continue this season, but maybe they will end it. We have had talks with the manager and group discussions over the internet with the team.

“But we have no clear information as the situation is constantly changing. I have read things, but it is mostly speculation.

“It’s a very strange situation. It’s like a long summer break. But it gives me a chance to work on my strength and fitness.

“Maybe we will be back in two weeks…maybe two months.”
