Arsenal have been aiming to bring in midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid this summer but his international manager has told him to snub a move to the Emirates.
Ghana boss, CK Akonnor has advised Thomas against joining the Premier League side since they will not be able to give him Champions League football next season.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t want him to move to Arsenal because with Atletico, he will always play Champions League football,” he said, as reported.
“His position is guaranteed and he will always play.”
Should Thomas Partey snub a move to Arsenal?
If Champions League football is something that Thomas Partey is looking for then there’s no way he will be joining Arsenal during the coming weeks.
But we doubt if top-tier European football is the only thing on his mind since various reports have suggested that Thomas is actually in interested in joining the North London side before the new season begins.
Diego Simeone obviously does not want to let Thomas Partey leave but if a good enough offer comes by then Atletico will not hold him back.
Now what remains to be seen is how much Arsenal are willing to pay for the 27-year-old, especially when they also have to make a whole lot of other signings during the ongoing transfer window.
