Rangers FC progressed into the second qualifying round of the Europa League after beating FC Shkupi over two legs.

The Gers took a 2-0 in the first leg at Ibrox last week and drew the second leg at Macedonia 0-0.

During the first game, the Light Blues had shown a lot of promise but during the Tuesday night game they failed to break down the Macedonian side but eventually, it was a smooth progress to the next round.

But as the teamsheet for the European clash was announced the Rangers fans immediately noticed that there was something wrong with the line-up.

Rangers had signed Jon Flanagan from Liverpool earlier on in the summer and almost everyone knew that Steven Gerrard would start with him while Declan John would be on the bench.

But when the 23-year-old did not even make it to the substitutes list the fans started panicking.

It was later revealed that Declan John did not travel with the squad to Macedonia and he was even absent from the Rangers training session before they left for Macedonia.

After this news, social media was abuzz with what could have happened to the left-wing back.

While some claimed that Declan John had picked up an injury before Tuesday night’s game as a result of which he was left behind in Scotland others feared that much like other players at Ibrox, his time too was up.

John joined Rangers on loan from Cardiff City last summer and the deal was made permanent in December. And during his one year stay at Ibrox the 23-year-old has played 30 games in all competitions for the Light Blues.

Predominantly a left-back, Declan John can also play in the left wing-back role which makes him a valuable asset for Steven Gerrard. And this is one of the primary reasons why we feel that the Gers will not be looking to sell him off during the summer transfer window.
