Man United have signed teenage winger Amad Diallo from Serie A side Atalanta and now the big question is whether he will be ready to start against Watford this weekend.
Manchester United take on Watford in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday and many experts feel the winger could be named in the matchday squad as Solskjaer is likely to rest a number of his first-team regulars.
Unfortunately for all the United fans, this might not be the case as the manager has made it clear that Amad Diallo is not likely to feature vs the Hornets.
‘He’s still not been with us in the training group, there’s the last bit of paperwork before he can come in,’ he said, as reported.
‘If it’s going to be in the Under 23s to play his first few games or if he looks so ready after he’s been training with the first team that he can go straight into that group, I don’t know yet.’
Amad Diallo has played in only one Serie A game for Atalanta this season which is why we don’t think the Man United boss will be too inclined to use him against Watford in the FA Cup.
But while talking about the youngster, Ole also added that former Hornets man Odion Ighalo will be named in the matchday squad.
He added: ‘Odion, you know it’s special for him against Watford. He will be involved. He’s not lost any of his sharpness or quality. It’s been difficult for him to be out of the squad as many times. He’s been a positive influence in the dressing room.
‘Hopefully I won’t need to bring him on in that we need goals but hopefully that he can join in.’
The Man United coaching staff have really high hopes from Amad Diallo but the 18-year-old has seen very little game time this season which is why we think Solskjaer will want to cushion him into the first-team.
