West Ham United forward Andy Carroll was scheduled to leave the club during the summer transfer window but a move could not materialize due to an injury he picked up.

Carroll’s injury ruled him out of action for several months meaning the English international had to stay back at the London stadium for one more season.

And since his contract expires at the end of the season, multiple reports are claiming that Andy Carroll could be on his way out during the January transfer window.

Since his return from injury, Andy Carroll has featured in nine games across all competitions for the Hammers and has managed to score just a single goal.

But the striker has revealed that he has no intentions of leaving West Ham during this month and is currently working hard to stay at the club beyond the summer.

“Of course I want to stay,” Andy Carroll said.

“I’m just playing football as it is and not thinking about that.

“Yes, I want to stay and I want a new deal but I can’t really think about that every day. I’ve just got to play my football when I get the chance.

“I’ve got a two-year option at the end of the season so we’ll see what happens. I’ve got to play a few more games like this one and, like the manager says, I’ve got to impress him in the minutes he gives me.

“It’s[injuries] hard, of course. You’ve got to get on with it and the lads and the staff and everyone were fantastic. They have been helping me along and it has been good.

“You’ve got to have good friends around you. The lads can see I’m down and want to be out there, keeping my spirits high and I go home and all the family are doing the same.

“My missus says I’ve been annoying even when I’m not injured. It’s especially tough for her when I am injured so I’ve got to thank her and the lads at the club.”

As per the terms of his contract, West Ham United can trigger a two-year extension to Andy Carroll’s new deal but in the current form that he is in, Manuel Pellegrini seems to have no intentions of keeping the 30-year-old.
