Watford might be in a complete mess this season but in the past couple of weeks, they have beaten Aston Villa and have also picked up a point against Manchester United. The Hornets played with a lot of heart against United and some people think Roy Hodgson’s side can hold back Arsenal as well.

Watford take on the Gunners on Sunday and this is not the Arsenal from the start of the season so the home side will have their work cut out. The North London side have won three in a row and their last match was a superb win against Wolves and Roy Hodgson knows very well what Mikel Arteta’s side will show throw at them.

Hodgson said in his press conference: “We know Arsenal are a very strong team and happen to be an in-form team, they are gelling very well and producing the sort of football that gets results.

“We have to be prepared for whatever they throw at us and have to hope our performance will enable us to come away with a similar good feeling about ourselves as the Aston Villa and Manchester United games.”

Will Arsenal drop points against Watford?

Michael Owen believes Arsenal have momentum on their side and after that hard-fought win against Wolves, they should be beating Watford as well, despite the home’s side efforts.

He wrote in his BetVictor blog: “Watford showed a lot of heart at Old Trafford, to come away with a point. They rode their luck at times, but to take four points from their last two away trips, at Aston Villa and Man United, is impressive stuff. I fear it might have come a bit late for them though.

“Arsenal haven’t played since that dramatic win over Wolves, and they’re bound to come into this full of confidence. I think fourth place is theirs to lose, but they need to avoid any complacency.

“I think Watford will throw everything they have at Arsenal, but I think Arsenal will win this 2-1.”

The Gunners are playing in the Premier League only so they have gotten a full weeks’ rest and this will be a major advantage for them.

Watford fought valiantly against Man United but to be fair, it’s United who missed rather easy chances. The kind of form that Arsenal are in right now, we don’t expect them to miss too many chances on Sunday.

In fairness, Watford should have lost by 3-0 or 4-0 last weekend and if the Gunners are in sync from the start then they will be able to achieve similar scorelines with the utmost ease.
