Davide Zappacosta playing for Chelsea

Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta joined Chelsea from Torino in 2017 and this campaign he has been sent out on loan to AS Roma, which is where he wishes to play next season as well.

The past two seasons have been really average for the right-back in England but he was hoping to regain his form at Roma this year. Unfortunately, Davide Zappacosta has managed to play in only one Serie A match so far this season thanks to an ACL injury.

But despite a poor outing in Italy, Davide Zappacostahas has revealed his wish of remaining with Roma beyond the summer.

The player said, as reported: “On a personal level, I would love to stay in Rome for several reasons. The main one is that I want to show the fans, my team-mates and the management who I am and what I can do.”

“I have worked a lot in these months, I have trained and I have made sacrifices to be available at the restart of the championship.

“I am doing some sessions completely dedicated to the knee because it takes time to recover better from this injury. But now I feel 90 per cent fit.”

Will Chelsea let Davide Zappacosta remain in Italy?

Davide Zappacosta has hardly played any senior game for Roma this season so the last thing Lampard would want is to add a burden to his squad next campaign.

Also, the Blues have seen the rise of Reece James this year and the youngster is clearly going to be the first-choice right-back for the club in the 2020-21 season.

With just one game under his belt, we don’t think AS Roma will be too eager to pay a permanent fee for Davide Zappacosta but Chelsea will be more than happy to make a loan arrangement for the 27-year-old to remain in Italy for one more season.
