West Ham United take on Southampton in the Premier League this weekend in what will be the final home game for the Hammers this season.
Right now the Hammers are 11th on the Premier League table and depending on a number of permutation and combinations, they still have that faint chance of finishing eighth on the table.
West Ham beat Tottenham Hotspur in their previous league game and with their tails up high, Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be hoping to pick up their second win on the trot.
And in a bid to do that, the London outfit have received a major boost in the form of Manuel Lanzini.
Manuel Lanzini missed a large chunk of the current season after he picked up a serious injury last summer and many believed that the attacking midfielder would be out for the whole of the campaign.
That though was not the case as the Argentine recovered ahead of schedule and so far the player has featured in 8 Premier League games – most of which have come off the bench.
But the player has been suffering from a groin problem which has forced him to miss the past couple of games.
Some rumours claimed that the player will not be able to make himself fit before the end of the season, but now reports are of the view that Manuel Lanzini might just start vs the Saints on Saturday.
If Lanzini does manage to return back to the start XI this weekend then it will be a huge boost for Manuel Pellegrini since the Argentine’s creativity is a big asset for the Hammers.
The return of Manuel Lanzini would mean that Snodgrass will move back to the bench in order to accommodate the 26-year-old who will play as the link between midfield and the attacking third.
But some experts are of the view that Pellegrini should not rush the Argentine back into action given the season is over and any further strain to that groin injury might force him to miss the pre-season season training during the summer.
