Manchester United will take on Wolves in the Premier League this weekend and striker Marcus Rashford is expected to miss out.
The England international has been on fire for United this season, scoring 29 goals in 53 games across all competitions and after Ronaldo’s departure, Rashford has been the focal point for United’s attack.
He’s one of the first names on Erik ten Hag’s teamsheet but the manager has revealed that Marcus Rashford is a major doubt for Saturday.
“He has a problem, an injury on his leg, so he is a big question mark for tomorrow,” said Ten Hag(h/t the club’s official website). “[Rashford] is doubtful, more than doubtful. So [there is] a big question mark.”
Manchester United are yet to secure a top-four spot on the Premier League table so Rashford’s absence will be a major blow but the club still have to play in the FA Cup final which is why ETH is not going to risk using him this weekend.
Also, Alejandro Garnacho is back to full fitness and is now available for selection. He was an unused sub last weekend but his manager has made it clear that the youngster is ready and raring to go.
“He has one more week training, definitely,” Erik told the press. “Yeah, so he is available and we have seen he can bring something extra in the team.”
Garnacho plays on the left wing and with Marcus Rashford set to miss out, the Argentine will come into the starting line up and slot into the left flank.
Rashford’s absence will be a big big miss for Man United but thankfully, Garancho is back at the perfect time. The youngster can torment defenders will his pace but players like Antony, Weghorst and Anthony Martial will have to make sure they score goals and help United pick up all three points on Saturday.
It’s still unclear how serious the injury is but Man United will take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final on the 3rd of June so hopefully, Marcus Rashford will be fit before that.
