Liverpool take on Leicester City in the Premier League in midweek and according to Jurgen Klopp, Mo Salah is in line to start against the Foxes.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane were involved in the Africa Cup of Nations for their respective countries and it was Senegal who ended up winning the tournament. This means Mane is going to get an extended break while Salah has already returned to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that Mane will be unavailable for the Leicester game but Mo Salah has a chance to play.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com, as per talkSPORT: “Mo is now back, I spoke already to him. He is very disappointed of course, but looking forward to all the things coming up here now.

“I spoke to him and pretty much the first thing Mo told me was: ‘I’m ready.’ Haha!

“He is an experienced player, he is a physical monster, to be honest, so we have to see. He will obviously have a little recovery session today and we will see how he feels tomorrow and from there we go.

“The proper plan we don’t have, play him as often and as long as possible is probably the plan, but we will not rush it. But if he is fine we will not leave him out for the wrong reasons as well, so let’s see.

“Sadio no chance as he’s not even here, but Mo yes.”

Should Mo Salah be playing against Leicester City?

Mo Salah played in a really intense final and after the loss, he will likely be mentally and physically shattered.

The Egyptian will obviously be ready to play against Leicester City but we don’t think it will be wise on Jurgen Klopp’s part to use him on Thursday night.

Leicester are no walk-over side and it would be much more sensible to use someone like Elliott or Oxlade-Chamberlain down the right wing instead of playing a possibly fatigued Mo Salah.

The 29-year-old has scored 16 and assisted nine goals in 20 Premier League this season so he is undoubtedly really important to Liverpool’s plans but with the Champions League restarting later this month, the last thing the manager will want is an unwanted fatigue injury.
