Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has been on the fringes this season and according to Ian Wright, the 26-year-old will have only one shot at redeeming his failing career at the club.

The Gunners paid a lot of money to bring Pepe on board but since joining the club in 2019, the winger has netted only 26 goals in 109 games. Most of these goals have come in cup competitions and the player’s been almost non-existent this campaign.

During the 2021/22 season, Nicolas Pepe hasn’t scored even a single goal in the nine Premier League games he’s played and according to Ian Wright, the Gunners could be looking to part ways with him, if he cannot pull up his socks.

“Up to this point he’s not used Pepe in any way that makes me think he’s got love for Pepe,” he told Wrighty’s House podcast.

“I think Pepe might be in the last chance saloon, with the number of games he hasn’t played. I’d like to see something from him.”

Can Nicolas Pepe revive his career at Arsenal?

Pepe scored 37 goals in 79 games when he was playing for Lille but he’s been a shadow of his past self ever since coming to Arsenal.

Youngsters Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka has promptly taken over the wings in the first team and we don’t think Nicolas Pepe has any chance at resurrecting his career at the club.

With Aubameyang leaving and Arsenal failing to sign fresh attacking talents, there’s a slim chance that Pepe will get a bit more game time but since the Gunners are playing in only the Premier League, chances are in itself going to be very limited.

Saka and Smith Rowe have done really well as the two wingers and this same selection process is going to continue during the second half of the season as well. Mikel Arteta also has Gabriel Martinelli who can play on the flanks so even if either one ESR of Saka gets injured, Martinelli will be the one who will fill up that void, not Nicolas Pepe.

Mikel Arteta has been really active in getting rid of all the deadwood and as soon as the 21/22 season comes to an end, Pepe will also be put up for sale.
