Liverpool will take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final later this month but just four days before that they will have to face Leeds United in the Premier League, as per Liverpool Echo.

Leeds United were scheduled to play at Anfield on Boxing Day but that game was postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak in Bielsa’s camp. Now that match has been rescheduled for February 23.

Liverpool will face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, February 27 and just a few days before this all-important game, Jurgen Klopp’s side will have to entertain the Elland Road outfit.

Liverpool to play on Champions League night?

Liverpool vs Leeds United will be played on the same night when Manchester United face Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.

Originally, as per UEFA guidelines, domestic games are not allowed to be played on European nights but since so many games have had to be postponed due to COVID, UEFA have temporarily relaxed this particular policy.

Tough month for Jurgen Klopp’s side?

The rearranged game means the Anfield outfit are going to have a really busy February wherein they will have to play seven games.

They re-start their campaign after the break with the FA Cup this weekend and then later in the month, they also face Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Liverpool were also scheduled to play Arsenal later this month but that game has been postponed due to the Carabao Cup final meaning this PL game will also have to be rearranged.

Advantage Chelsea or Liverpool at Wembley?

Originally, Liverpool were scheduled to get a week’s rest before their Carabao Cup final but now the Leeds United game has been added to their midweek calendar which means they will have very little time to rest.

The Anfield outfit will obviously be on the backfoot but Chelsea are caught in an even messier situation since they face Lille in the Champions League that very same week.

The Blues take on the French side on Tuesday meaning they will get 24 hours more to recharge themselves. Ideally, Liverpool should be resting some key players before the Carabao Cup final but with Man City running away with the Premier League title, Klopp just cannot afford to field a vulnerable side vs Leeds. This means he will mostly have to use the same first XI for the Leeds game and then at Wembley against Chelsea.
