According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal could make a move for Manchester City target Pau Torres if they were to lose Gabriel.

Gabriel had a stellar season with the Gunners but he’s been the subject of interest from Juventus and some rumours are claiming that Arsenal might lose out on the defender in the coming weeks.

Romano is suggesting that Mikel Arteta could make a move for Pau Torres if he feels Gabriel is going to head out.

He said in his Here We Go Podcast: “Many clubs are in for Gabriel Magalhaes. In case top clubs arrive for Gabriel Magalhaes, Pau Torres would be an option for Arsenal.”

Will Arsenal seriously challenge Man City for Pau Torres?

Pau Torres is set to leave this summer and several major Premier League clubs have been interested in signing him.

Man United were keen to bring him on board before they signed Lisandro Martinez and now Manchester City are also being linked with him.

Arsenal are really brave to even think of challenging Manchester City but we doubt if they will have to take such a call because Gabriel is highly unlikely to leave.

The centre-back just had a wonderful season alongside Ben White so it will be utterly foolish of him to try and secure an exit and then start from scratch in Italy.

However, Juventus have the money(from the De Ligt transfer) to make this deal happen and some experts believe a hefty fee can force Arsenal to change their minds.

The Gunners have missed out on Champions League football so they are going to face a certain financial crunch and if Juve are willing to pay around €50-60 million then there’s a slight possibility that Arteta could sanction a sale.

Having said that, right now there are no signs of this happening so we don’t think Arsenal will be challenging Manchester City for Pau Torres any time soon.

Also, Pau Torres is on Juventus’ transfer radar and it will make much more sense for them to go after the Villarreal defender instead of trying to sign Gabriel from Arsenal.
