According to Read Liverpool, SPFL side Rangers FC are trying to sign Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster on a season-long loan deal this summer.

The exclusive report claims: “Rangers have made an enquiry about the availability of Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster, as the Glasgow-based club would like to take him on loan for the entire 2020/21 season, a source has exclusively told Read Liverpool.

“There have been various reports suggesting that Steven Gerrard was showing an interest in taking the 20-year-old to Scotland for the season and we have been told that Rangers have officially approached the player’s representatives to gauge in a potential loan move.”

The 20-year-old is currently out on loan to Swansea City and the forward has really been impressive for the Championship side but Noel Whelan believes the Liverpool academy graduate should join the Gers next season, even if Alfredo Morelos does not leave.

“Even if Alfredo Morelos does not leave Ibrox this summer, you always need strikers,” he told Football Insider.

“Brewster has been tipped for greatness at Liverpool. He’s been at Swansea this season and has done fantastically.

“He is the right age and Steven Gerrard knows all about him. Steven has seen him come through the ranks and knows what attributes he possesses. He knows that Brewster is a player he can trust and improve.

“Steven wants to get all of his work in the transfer market done quickly.”

Will Rhain Brewster join Rangers if Morelos does not leave?

Alfredo Morelos has been a subject of transfer interest from some of the biggest European clubs and there’s a significant chance the Colombian could be on his way out.

But if he does decide to stay back then we don’t think Rhian Brewster will want to join Rangers next season.

With Morelos and Jermain Defoe already at the club, Brewster will hardly get any game time which will do nothing to help his development and in turn, prepare him for the Liverpool first-team.

Swansea City are reportedly keen to hold onto the 20-year-old for one more season and we have a strong belief the forward will stay in Wales if Alfredo Morelos does not vacate his lockerroom at Rangers FC.
