Man United have reportedly held talks with the agent of AS Monaco forward Wissam Ben Yedder and this is really bad news for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
Wissam Ben Yedder joined the Ligue 1 side from Sevilla last summer and right now he’s one of the best forwards in the French league, scoring 18 goals in 26 appearances this season.
Monaco will not be playing in the Champions League next season which is why the Ligue 1 club might have to see some of their best forwards head out of the club this summer.
And as per Le10 Sport, Premier League side Manchester United have already made moves to sign the 29-year-old.
The exclusive report from France claims: “As revealed by le10sport.com, the French international finds himself on several short-lists of European clubs and in particular Manchester United, who has had several contacts with his agent, in recent months.
“Listening to the opportunities for Ben Yedder, Monaco could say yes to a transfer in the event of an offer greater than 40 million euros.”
Will Wissam Ben Yedder join Man United?
Man United are obviously looking at the French international to replace Odion Ighalo who is at the club only for a limited time.
But we do not think Arsenal will be too worried about this since Mikel Arteta is already chasing Celtic’s centre-forward Odsonne Edouard.
Edouard is also in a similar price bracket as Yedder and Arteta will be much more content at spending so much money on a 22-year-old rather than buying a player who’s about to hit 30.
Man United are also keeping their options open and Wissam Ben Yedder is not the only man on Solskjaer’s radar. But with this report, one thing’s for certain, the Norwegian manager is desperately looking to add a new centre-forward to his ranks before the 2020/21 season begins.
Ben Yedder had played in 26 Ligue 1 matches this season, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists for AS Monaco before the French top division was abruptly ended due to the lockdown.
