Arsenal take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday and there’s a chance that Shkodran Mustafi and Cedric Soares could both return back to action.

Shkodran Mustafi has been on the sidelines with a thigh injury while January signing Cedric Soares is yet to play for his new side as he has been recovering from a knee injury.

But speaking before the Manchester City clash, Mikel Arteta has claimed that both these players have returned back to training and are in contention to start at the Etihad.

“I think they will be available to play,” Arteta told Football London.

“Hopefully everyone will be able to train tomorrow and we’ll pick the best players we can.”

This will surely be a big boost for the Arsenal boss since he will finally have some much needed defensive cover as the Gunners enter the final phase of the season.

Last weekend, it was David Luiz and Pablo Mari who started in central defence against the Hammers but some people feel that Shkodran Mustafi could come into the side in midweek.

But given how shaky Mustafi has been this season we doubt whether the manager would want to put him against the likes of Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne.

And as far as Cedric Soares is concerned, there’s no way the manager will throw him into the mix during such a high-intensity match, that too away from home.
