Thomas Partey to Arsenal

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Thomas Partey but it looks like the player might be slipping away from this – according to rumours.

Thomas Partey has been at the centre of a few controversies in the past couple of days right after his father claimed that Arsenal were in talks with his son over a possible summer move.

The player’s agent though was quick to rebuff all these claims saying that Thomas Partey is still very much an Atletico Madrid player and he is happy at the club.

The La Liga side are offering the player a new deal which will increase his current release clause and until he agrees to the terms of this new offer, there’s still a chance that Arsenal can sign the defensive midfielder, no matter what everyone says.

But now, the Gunners aren’t the only club who are interested in signing the 26-year-old since Serie A side Juventus also seemed to have joined the race.

Marca are reporting: “Although Arsenal and Manchester United are among the European clubs that have Thomas on the radar, Juventus is presented as the great cover in the race for trying to take advantage of a definitive disagreement between the midfielder and Atlético in the negotiation that they keep open throughout the season for renovation.”

The player’s reported €50m release clause seemed to have attracted interest from the Turin outfit and it’s really bad news for Arsenal and their plans to land Thomas Partey.

Will Thomas Partey snub Juventus to join Arsenal?

Absolutely no chance.

Right now the Old Lady are one of the biggest clubs in world football while Arsenal have not even tasted Champions League football in the last couple of seasons. So, Thomas Partey in the right frame of mind will never refuse a move to Juventus in order to join a club like Arsenal who are expected to fight for a top-four finish in the Premier League next season.

The Gunners though are not expected to give up hope since Arteta badly needs a new defensive midfielder to replace the below-average Granit Xhaka which this can eventually benefit Atletico Madrid’s cause in the transfer market.

The La Liga side are not interested in parting ways with Thomas Partey this summer but if Juve and Arsenal were to start a bidding war then Simeone’s side might just chance their stance.
