Liverpool beat Man United 3-1 at home last weekend and this humiliating loss proved to be Jose Mourinho’s final game incharge.

The Portuguese was sacked from his position just two days later and Man United have since named Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp has been instrumental in Jose Mourinho’s sacking in his last three jobs but this time there is one other man who is being blamed for the sacking of the Man United boss.

The player in question is Xherdan Sahqiri who scored a brace during the 3-1 win over Man United.

Shariqi came off the bench in the second half and managed to score two goals in quick succession. And the Swiss international has since received a number of messages where he has been put forward as the culprit for Jose Mourinho’s sacking at Man United.

‘I had a lot of messages from my friends when it happened. There were a lot of good messages about the United game at first and then when the news came out about Mourinho, I had messages saying: ‘That’s your fault!’, Shaqiri said.

‘But this is football sometimes. I don’t think it was just because we won that game that United wanted to change their manager. There were other reasons but it means the game goes down in history. It will always be in my history too.

‘I’m very glad I helped the team win. That is the most important thing and I was delighted to have an impact on such an important game.

‘I knew before that there was a big rivalry between Liverpool and Man United but to score two goals was very beautiful. I will never forget this game.

‘It was a special day not only for me but for the club, too, and to be back on top of the table is always a nice look.’

Man United are currently in the hunt for a new long-term manager and reports claim that Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino are the frontrunners to the lucrative job.
