Liverpool are going to part ways with midfielder Gini Wijnaldum during the summer and there’s a big chance that Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans could be his long-term replacement.

Wijnaldum is going to leave Liverpool as a free agent after he refused to sign a new deal with the club and right now, manager Jurgen Klopp is actively looking for someone who can fill into the Dutchman’s shoes.

Talking about Gini, the Liverpool manager said after Sunday’s match: “Each club who is interested in him should call me and ask about him. Then you will take him, definitely, because I could not be more positive about what he did here. It’s incredible.

“He was not only always available, he played 90 per cent of the time really, really good. He scored incredibly important goals: Barcelona, Cardiff I think was very, very important, Middlesbrough was very important.

“So many top, top-class performances. Now, it looks like the time is over but everything will be fine and nobody can take our memories from us. We will share them forever and that’s really great.

“I told him that after the game, he sees it the same way and the goodbye would not be tough if the time you had together was not worth it. So, it’s really tough because we had a great time together.”

Names like Bissouma and James Ward-Prowse have already been linked with the Anfield outfit and as per the latest rumours, Liverpool could also be eyeing a move for Youri Tielemans.

And these gossips have been heightened even more after the Belgian international applause to the fans after the final game of the season on Sunday.

Tielemans have been a key figure in Leicester City’s midfield since his move to the club from Monaco in 2019. And with the Foxes failing to secure a Champions League spot for the next season, Liverpool have a great chance of signing him up.

Liverpool have managed to rally in the past couple of weeks and finish third on the table while Leicester City have fallen out of the top four in the final week of the season.

Youri Tielemans has played in each and every Premier League game this season, scoring six and assisting four goals. And while there’s no immediate danger of losing him but if the 24-year-old aspires to play in the Champions League then Liverpool will be a great choice for him.

The Anfield outfit need to bring in someone to replace Wijnaldum next season and we are more than certain that the name of Youri Tielemans is somewhere on that transfer shortlist.
