Chelsea are on the verge of appointing a new manager and it looks like that former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is going to take over the reigns from Antonio Conte.

Chelsea are expected to make the news official by the end of this week and before the Italian takes charge, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had something to say about his counterpart.

Guardiola was interviewed about Maurizio Sarri during a golf tournament in Italy and the Spaniard said:

“I have no doubts that Sarri is one of the best managers out there. He achieved something incredible with Napoli.

“His style of football is as good as a drink in the sun. It was great to see Napoli games. It would be a pleasure to meet him in England.

“Small details make the difference when it comes to winning silverware. If Juve had lost with Inter Napoli may have won the league.

“You need to be lucky as well. I was lucky to have solid clubs and teams and this makes everything simpler.”

It is more or less confirmed that Sarri will become the new Chelsea boss especially after Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne slipped the beans and wished good luck to his former manager.

Lorenzo said: “If I sit on the Chelsea bench, I will be happy because he did well with Napoli and our football was appreciated by everyone,

“I wish him good luck and I hope he brings his mentality there.”
