Man United brought in Alex Telles to replace Luke Shaw in the left-back role but the arrival of the Brazilian has reignited Shaw and given the England international a new lease of life at the club.
Luke Shaw has turned himself into one of the best full-backs in world football this season and the defender has even admitted that the arrival of Alex Telles has partly help him get back into peak form.
Luke Shaw had said: “I pushed myself before Alex got here. I knew where I wanted to get to. I wanted to prove people wrong; a lot of people were doubting me and I always believed in my ability to get back to where I can be.
“Of course, the manager has helped that, and maybe a bit of competition from Alex might have helped that, too.
“If we can get that around the whole place in different positions, I think we can continue to keep pushing each other. It’s only good for the manager to have that sort of competition and hard choices on who to pick. That’s where we need to improve.”
The resurgence of Shaw means Alex Telles has been warming the benches for most of this season which is why Manchester United might be planning to offload him in the summer, according to a rumour cited Sport Witness.
The report claims: “Portuguese newspaper Record now claim the 28-year-old has failed to establish himself in England, which is why he will be made available on the market.
“It’s reported Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are ‘ready to sell’ the former FC Porto man this summer, but they will ‘need a good offer’ to sanction his exit.

“Although Record says the English club are ‘ready to sell’ Telles, they don’t specify what constitutes a ‘good offer’.”
Alex Telles has played in only nine Premier League games this season and the only way he can get back into the starting line-up if Luke Shaw was to pick up an injury.
But despite being injury-prone, Shaw has surprisingly managed to keep himself injury-free for most of the campaign, another big reason why he has been in such fine form.
There’s obviously a chance that Solskjaer could look to sell the 28-year-old so that he can gather transfer funds for the summer but we doubt if the Man United boss will take such a risk after just a single season.
Alex Telles still has three more years left on his current deal with Man United and given that they will return to the Champions League next season, the left-back is bound to get a lot more game time.
