Liverpool have had a nightmare season in terms of injuries, so much so that in their last few games, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams had become the first-choice central defenders for Jurgen Klopp.

The Anfield outfit lost Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and even Ozan Kabak to injuries during various times of the season so naturally, Jurgen Klopp had no other option but to rely on the relatively unknown Phillips and Williams.

Williams came into the side for the last few matches but it’s Nat Phillips who has highly impressed everyone with his performances, featuring in central defence during the high-intensity matches and coming out with flying colours.

But with players like Gomez and Van Dijk coming back from injury and Liverpool on the verge of signing Ibrahima Konate, Nat Phillips is sure to fall down the pecking order once again. And some rumours are even claiming that the defender could be sold off in the summer.

Phillip’s future is very much in doubt at Liverpool which is why pundit Lee Hendrie has urged Burnley to make a move for the 24-year-old in the summer.

Lee Hendrie told Sky Sports, as reported: “He has been a breath of fresh air, you’ve got to say.

“What I like about him, is he a Liverpool-style player? Possibly not, but everyone’s grown to like what he’s been all about. He wears his heart on his sleeve, he puts his head where he shouldn’t do. Why shouldn’t he be one of the better centre-halves around?

“He’s the type of player, no disrespect, that I could see at a Burnley or somewhere like that. He’s that style of player.”

Will Liverpool be ready to sell Nat Phillips?

Nat Phillips has done tremendously well this season but once Konate arrives at the club, the centre-back might not even make it to the matchday squads.

This season, Phillips has played in 17 Premier League games and with two more years left on his current deal, there’s every chance that Liverpool might look to cash in on him in the coming months.

Burnley are known for their robust performances and such a style of play will be ideal for someone like Nathaniel Phillips to showcase his talents.

TransferMarkt currently values him at around £4.5 million but seeing the type of performances he has given this season, there’s no doubt Liverpool will ask for a heftier transfer price, should they decide to sell him.
