Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was being touted as the man who is going to replace Steve Bruce at St James’ Park but it seems like the Italian is not interested in the job.

The new owners are expected to part ways with Bruce as they look to bring in a world-class manager and since Antonio Conte is currently without a club, he was the easiest target.

But now as per a report in The Sun, the former Inter Milan boss does not wish to take a job where he is shouldered with the responsibility of building everything from scratch.

The report claims: “ANTONIO CONTE would likely reject the chance of leading Newcastle’s Saudi-backed assault on the top of English football, SunSport understands.

“The £300million PIF takeover at St James’ Park has left Steve Bruce’s position as manager hanging by a thread.

“Ex-Chelsea boss Conte has been one of the most obvious candidates given he is available as a free agent immediately.

“But SunSport understands the 52-year-old’s current position is that his next job will need to be at a club who are already in a position to genuinely challenge for titles.”

Next NUFC manager: Is not Antonio Conte then who?

Antonio Conte is a serial winner so under his guidance Newcastle United would have been on the rise almost immediately. But it looks like the former Chelsea manager wants to manage a side which is already on the top.

If this report is true then the flood gate of rumours will open up once again and as per the current odds, Liverpool legend and current Rangers FC boss Steven Gerrard is the next favourite to take charge of the Magpies.

The Gers boss has managed to break the Celtic dominance in Scotland but his dream has always been to manage a club in the Premier League. While everyone knows that he wishes to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool but a chance to find success with NUFC will not be bad either.

Unai Emery is another name that has been floating around in the previous 24 hours. Emery was a flop with Arsenal but there’s no doubt that he is a top-top manager. And given the finances and liberty to sign world-class players, the Spaniard could find success with Newcastle United.

Rafa Benitez is another name that has been linked with Newcastle United and if Antonio Conte does not want the job then there’s a big chance the new owners could try and bring Rafa in.

The current Everton boss has experience of managing big clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid and he’s even had a stint at St James’ Park. A promise to bring in superstars and a hefty salary should be enough to lure him out of Goodison Park.
