Arsenal picked up a superb win over West Ham United on Sunday and these three points have suddenly opened up their chances of finishing third on the Premier League table.

After this win, the Gunners have moved within touching distance of Chelsea and according to Mikel Arteta, his side will now look to topple their London rivals from the third spot.

“Mathematically, everything is open,” he replied when asked about a 3rd place finish.

“We’re going to have to go to Leeds and win again, because everybody’s going to put pressure because everybody wants to play in the position we are in now.

“We have to handle that. It’s a great opportunity, and that willingness and motivation that we have is what is driving us to continue to do so.”

Will Arsenal be able to topple Chelsea?

With the kind of form that Arsenal are in, they have a very big chance at moving above Chelsea before the end of the season but what they must not forget is that Spurs are still visible in their rear-view mirror.

Yes, the Gunners are just three points behind Chelsea but the more significant thing is that Spurs are just two points behind them. It will only take one mistake for them to once again slide out of the top four.

Arsenal have now picked up three wins on the trot but they still have some tricky fixtures left to play. They have to face Newcastle United, a side which has massively picked up their game during the second half of the season and then they welcome Everton on the final matchday.

The Toffees are fighting to avoid relegation and right now, they are fighting like wounded soldiers in a battle.

Amidst all this, there is a North London Derby still to be played and this match will be the deciding factor in terms of how the league table will look by the end of May. We don’t see Chelsea falling out of the top four and at the same time, Arsenal will have to make sure they don’t go down either.

Yes, finishing third will be a tremendous boost for the Gunners but in reality, there isn’t much difference between third and fourth right now.

Can Tottenham overtake Arsenal?

Spurs’ have been in dodgy form lately, winning just three out of their previous five outings but Conte is a tactical genius who has the ability to pull the rabbit out of the hat during big occasions.

The last thing he will want is to play in the Europa League next season so the Italian will throw the kitchen sink at Arsenal to make sure his team are competing with Europe’s best.

In their last 10 matches, the Lilywhites have scored 24 goals so if they can break Arsenal’s defence early then the Gunners could be in for a lot of trouble.
