Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is eager to bring in a new goalkeeper for the 2021-22 season and the club have several options on their radar, as per The Daily Mail.

Joe Ridge writes: “Arsenal need a back-up to Bernd Leno.

“Runar Alex Runarsson was signed for that purpose last summer but it was quickly decided he was not good enough and is seen as better suited to being third choice.

“The Gunners have discussed Barcelona reserve Neto, Ajax’s Andre Onana and Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale, but a move to bring back Mat Ryan, who spent the second half of the season on loan from Brighton, might make most sense.”

Bern Leno has been the undisputed No 1 for Arsenal since he arrived at the club but now Mikel Arteta is keen to add some competition for that particular position.

Mat Ryan has been linked with a return to Arsenal but it seems like the Gunners have turned away and now the keeper could be on his way to joining Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

Andre Onana has also been on their radar but some reports claim the Gunners are yet to open talks with Ajax meaning Arteta might be having second thoughts about signing the Cameroonian international.

23-year-old Aaron Ramsdale joined Sheffield United just one year ago but he would love to return to the Premier League after being relegated with the Blades this past season.

Sheffield United paid £18.5m to Bournemouth last year for Ramsdale which is why they will want at least £40 million if Arsenal come calling. And absurd price tag will clearly be a big problem for the North London side.

Neto could perhaps be the best option for Arsenal if they are looking to bring in a second-choice keeper and not someone who is going to actually challenge Bernd Leno.

The 31-year-old joined Barcelona in 2019 and has two more years left on his current deal. As per TransferMarkt, Neto is valued at only £5.40 million.
