Premier League side Arsenal are planning to make a second attempt at signing Lazio’s 26-year-old forward Joaquin Correa.

Earlier this month, there were reports that the Gunners have made a €20 million bid for the Argentine but the Italian side were pretty swift to turn it down.

It seems like Arsenal have not given up hope as they are now planning to make a cash-plus-player deal in the hopes of convincing Lazio to agree on a sale.

The Daily Star claims: “Arsenal are reportedly considering including Lucas Torreira in a part-exchange deal for Lazio midfielder Joaquin Correa.

“According to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, Lazio have already turned down a £17million bid from the Gunners.

“But developments on Sunday suggest they could be willing to up the stakes by including Torreira, a known a target for Lazio, in a deal.”

Lucas Torreira has turned out to be a major flop at Arsenal since joining them in 2018 and he spent the previous season out on loan to Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid have an option to buy but the Spanish side are not likely to exercise it meaning Torreira will be on his way back to London very soon.

As per the report, Arsenal are ready to pay £13-17 million plus the South American midfielder in exchange for Joaquin Correa and there are hopes that Lazio might agree to this new arrangement.

Mikel Arteta is already making plans to sell Lacazette so he needs a new striker at the club and with eight goals and four assists last season, 26-year-old Joaquin Correa seems like a pretty safe bet.

Sarri has made it clear that he does not want to put the Argentine up for sale this summer but we will have to see how the Lazio management react to this new cash-plus-player offer from Arsenal.
