Premier League side Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing central midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon at the end of the current season, according to a report in TodoFichajes.

The player moved to Lyon in January of this year from Brazilian side Athletico PR but as per the report, the French club might be forced to sell him off after just six months as they will not be getting into the Champions League next season.

The report claims: “Bruno Guimaraes rejected Atlético de Madrid last January to sign with Olympique de Lyon.

“The midfielder did not seem to be wrong, he plays it all and is growing exponentially. Precisely thanks to this performance, Barcelona and Arsenal are awaiting their future.

“Without a termination clause, the former Athletico Paranaense has two first-level suitors and that is that both the Barça club and the Londoners want to get their services.”

This is not the first time Arsenal are making a move for Bruno Guimaraes since their technical director Edu wanted to bring him in at the start of the new year but the 22-year-old eventually chose to join Lyon.

Can Arsenal get their hands on the 22 Y/O?

Both Guendouzi and Torreira have been really underwhelming for Arsenal this season and if Arteta can get his hands on Bruno Guimaraes, then the Brazilian could be a really important figure in the centre of the pitch next season.

But before he can think of bringing in a new central midfielder, the manager will have to free up locker room space. Not only to make room for the new arrivals but also to gather funds since the club could be working on a shoestring budget in the summer.

Lyon paid €20 million for the midfielder just a couple of months ago and Bruno still has four years left on his current contract which means, there’s no way the Ligue 1 club will be ready to lower their asking price for the 22-year-old.

But apart from the price, the other big problem for Arsenal is the fact that Barcelona are also said to be interested in Guimaraes which could be a big roadblock for the Premier League side.

All in all, at around 18 million pounds, the midfielder will be the perfect buy for the Gunners but there’s a lot of conditions which need to sit perfectly before the fans can start getting excited.
