Sokratis predicts Aubameyang will do ‘this’ for Arsenal by the end of the season: Too good to be true?

Arsenal beat Burnley 3-1 at home on Saturday and with that Unai Emery’s men ensured that their fans will have a happy Christmas.

With the win, the Gunners are now fifth on the league table – tied on points with Chelsea who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Arsenal went 2-0 up within the first 48 minutes which was surprising in itself and both those goals were scored by striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

With the brace, the Gabon international has now taken his goal tally up to 12 which makes him the league’s top scorer right now.

And now Aubameyang’s teammate, Sokratis Papastathopoulos believes the striker will hit 30 Premier League goals by the end of the season.

“I know Auba. I’ve known him for six or seven years,” Sokratis told Arsenal’s official website.

“In these games, he does it every time, one, two or three goals. I think 30 will happen. I hope that he will win it (the golden boot).

“It was a difficult game(vs Burnley),

“Sometimes it was too much, but I don’t think that was my mistake. I just stood up to go from the ball. But it is okay, it’s football, it can happen.

“It was important for us to win three points. Now we have to look forward to the next games.”

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang might be leading the list with 12 goals but he surely has some competition from last year’s golden boot winner Mo Salah who is just one goal behind him at 11 while last year’s runners-up Harry Kane is currently on nine goals.

But one disadvantage that Aubameyang has over the likes of Salah and Kane is the fact that Arsenal are playing in the Europa League this season.

We all know the type of pressure that comes with a Thursday night fixture and as the Gunners will enter the business end of the competition, Emery will have no other option but to start Aubameyang in the first eleven.

And these ill-timed matches will most certainly take a toll on the Gabon international’s Premier League form.
