According to TZ, Arsenal are interested in signing Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan but Bayern Munich will also try and make a move for him

Gundogan has been a top player for Manchester City since joining them in 2016 but he will be out of contract in 2023 and as per the rumours, Pep is not willing to offer him a new deal.

The German international has also admitted that his future at the club is far from protected and will soon sit down with the management to discuss the long-term plans.

“We will sit down together in due course and exchange our ideas and plans, and then we will see what comes out of it,” the Germany international has said.

“Football-wise, there is certainly still no better address than Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, and I think that will hardly change in the next few years.”

Will Manchester City will allow a player like him to leave?

This season, Gundogan has started in 20 Premier League games but he’s still managed to net eight goals, including the title-winning brace against Aston Villa.

He’s fallen down the pecking order as the season has rolled along and since he’s already 31 years old, it won’t be a surprise if the Man City manager chooses to part ways with him.

Pep will not want to see Bernardo Silva leave in the summer and since he has multiple other midfield options, this will be the perfect time to cash in on Ilkay Gundogan.

Can Arsenal challenge Bayern Munich for the 31-year-old?

It’s being claimed that Manchester City will accept only £17 million for the midfielder and at this price, Gundogan will be an absolute steal for the Gunners.

However, if Bayern Munich are serious about signing him then Arsenal will stand no chance of signing the 31-year-old.

Julian Nagelsmann has plans to rebuild his squad for the next season and there’s very little probability that Ilkay Gundogan will snub Bayern Munich and move to Arsenal.

A player of his quality deserves not only to play in the Champions League but to also challenge for trophies. Arsenal are definitely a team on the up but it will take a few more years before they can match up with the big boys but at Bayern Munich, he’s almost guaranteed silverware.

Ilkay Gundogan has two or maybe three good seasons left in him so it will make sense if Manchester City cash in on him and if he does indeed leave in the coming months then Bayern Munich will be his next destination and not Arsenal.
