Premier League side Leeds United have been linked with a move for Rangers FC full-back Borna Barisic and according to Danny Mills, the Elland Road outfit should be looking to wrap up the deal before the ongoing European Championship is over.

Borna Barisic has turned himself into one of the key figures in the starting line-up for the Gers ever since his move to the club in 2018 and Leeds are keen to add him to the squad next season.

Danny Mills has urged Leeds United to try and wrap up the deal sooner rather than later since his price could skyrocket if the left-back ends up having a good EURO 2020.

“The left-back position needs to be sorted, we know that,” Mills told Football Insider.

“They need to bring in a specialist in that area. Croatia are a good side and he’s obviously had a good season at Rangers. To be in the Croatia squad, you’re obviously of high quality.

“It could be a fantastic opportunity but it’s better to get it done sooner rather than later. Let’s say he goes on to have a really good tournament, they’ll be one or two others queuing up to try and get his signature.”

Ezgjan Alioski’s future at Leeds United still needs to be sorted which is why the English club are being linked with Borna Barisic but we doubt if Steven Gerrard is ready to sell the left-back this summer.

The Croatian has three more years left on his current deal so Rangers FC can afford to hold onto him for at least one more season.

TransferMarkt currently values Borna Barisic at £5.4 million meaning Leeds United are sure to test Rangers’ determination by making a bid of around £10-15 million. And since Rangers will need money to bring in new players, there’s every chance they could crack under financial pressure.
