Rangers FC have finally signed midfielder Ianis Hagi on a permanent deal from Belgium side Genk – the Teddy Bears have confirmed.

The official statement read: “RANGERS can confirm that Ianis Hagi has agreed to join the club on a permanent, long term deal, with the Light Blues having negotiated their option to buy.”

And even before the dust could settle on this huge deal, Ianis Hagi has been given one of the biggest responsibilities at the club in recent years.

According to former Rangers defender Dorin Goian, the 21-year-old not only has the talent to succeed at Rangers but can also help the club end Celtic’s dominance.

“I’m confident Ianis Hagi can help Rangers stop Celtic winning their tenth title,” he told the Scottish Sun“I’m sure Rangers believe this too, otherwise they wouldn’t have signed him.

“They believe in Hagi and Rangers have trust in his qualities. It doesn’t matter that Celtic have won the last nine league titles.

“It depends on him, but Scottish football needs a player like Ianis Hagi. He’s a special kind of player, someone who at any time can decide a game with one moment of magic.

“That is a good environment for him to get better and I think it is a good decision for Rangers that they were able to sign Hagi.”

Can Ianis Hagi become a superstar at Rangers?

Ianis Hagi certainly has the talent to succeed at Rangers and in just seven Premiership matches, he has managed to please not only the fans but also Steven Gerrard and his coaching staff.

But it remains to be seen if he can help the Gers win the SPFL title next season.

Last summer, Ryan Kent was also handed this very same responsibility but this season, the former Liverpool man has not been able to reach peak form for Rangers FC.

Also, Ianis Hagi is a top talent who is wanted by big clubs like Napoli meaning Gerrard might have only one shot at using the midfielder in order to dismantle Celtic. If Ianis Hagi can perform at his peak during the 2020-21 season, there’s every chance the youngster might look to play in one of Europe’s top-five leagues.
