Celtic signed Scott Sinclair from Aston Villa in 2016 and at first, he was one of the most influential players at Celtic Park.

The midfielder went on to win the 2017 Scotland Player of the Year but since then he has done very little to impress the Bhoys fans.

While Scott Sinclair has been a regular feature under every manager but with each passing year, his presence has diminishing and this season, he has done very little to help out the team.

During the 2018-19 season, Sinclair has played in 29 league games for the Bhoys but has managed to score only nine goals and given that he is already 30 years old, his performances are not likely to improve.

As per reports, Middlesbrough are interested in signing him up during the summer transfer window and experts believe that Celtic should cash in on the deal.

Scott Sinclair is out of contract at the end of the next season which means that this summer will be the last chance for the Bhoys to sell him off.

Theoretically, the club will still have the January transfer window to offload the midfielder but the player is more likely to sign a pre-contract at the start of 2020 since no club will be willing to pay money for a player who will become a free agent in just a couple of months.

As per the report, Boro are willing to pay as much as £2million for Scott Sinclair which is an absurd amount of money given that the player is about to enter the final year of his contract.

If Celtic do agree to sell him off for £2million then they will also be able to recover a large part of the £3.69million they paid for him to Aston Villa and in turn, Neil Lennon can use that money to bring in new signings.

Scott Sinclair is still a very influential figure in the first team squad and many fans might not like the fact that the club might be planning to sell him off during the summer.

But exclusively from a business point of view, selling the ageing midfielder for £2 million makes absolute sense more so since Lennon has a number of players who can do the same job as Scott Sinclair.
