Man United overcame a 2-0 deficit from the first leg to beat PSG 3-1 in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

The two-legged tie ended with a scoreline of 3-3 which meant the Red Devils go through to the quarterfinals on the basis of away goals.

Lukaku scored a brace while Marcus Rashford converted a late penalty as the referee chose to award the spot kick after consulting with VAR.

Since then many pundits have come out to slam the VAR decision but former Arsenal man Julio Baptista claimed Man United were just lucky to beat PSG.

Baptista wrote on Twitter: ‘Football has those things!!! For the next round a Manchester without merit, who just played and defended the whole game, counting on luck to beat PSG.

‘The Manchester being great as it is cannot afford play like that if you want to win a Champions League.’

But it was former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas who came out to back the Red Devils.

Cesc Fabregas replied: ‘Julito, how are you, my friend? Each one plays with their weapons and United had at least 8 casualties of very important players.

‘Boys from the youth team played in the last 20 because they did not have anything else. Have you been lucky? Yes.

‘But they deserve respect for fighting and believing until the end.’

Cesc Fabregas left Chelsea this year to join AS Monaco and not many people had hoped the midfielder to back one of his former rivals.

But it was truly a touch of class from Cesc Fabregas.
