Liverpool suffered a third straight loss in the Premier League, this time going down 3-1 to Leicester City. But according to pundit Peter Schmeichel, midfielder Curtis Jones has proven a point to his manager.

“He’s a very impressive young lad, he looks like, obviously I don’t know the guy, but he looks to have a very good mentality,” Schmeichel told Premier League Productions.

“He works really hard, he creates chances, scores goals and he can switch the play at the right time. Tactically he’s very astute as well, he understands the game. He’s a dribbler as well, and we like dribblers don’t we?

“He has been fantastic and I really see a long and a strong future in this Liverpool team, and he’s given Klopp a problem hasn’t he? Because how can you not have him as one of the players that you’d play.

“I seem him as someone who could literally play in any team and give that team something.”

Curtis Jones was one of the shining stars for Liverpool, up until the scoreline was 1-0 in the second half. But the player was taken off just as Leicester started shifting gears during the final quarter of the match.

But over the course of this season, the 20-year-old has been really impressive for Liverpool, making 17 appearances in the Premier League so far.

And in these appearances, the youngster has created as many as eight chances with a passing accuracy of 92.63%.

With players like Henderson and Fabinho playing in central defence for most of the season, Curtis Jones has gotten a lot of game time and it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp handles him once players like Van Dijk and Joe Gomez return from injury.

This season, Jones has certainly proved his worth at Liverpool so now he will be pushing his manager to give him a regular spot in the starting line-up.
